Default ORY or Catted Y-Pipe?

I reciently own two camaros now. My 2000 SS has a true-dual setup on it and I'm not really pleased with it. Its just to loud and has a horrible rasp to it,and its annoying...ive also been pulled over twice because of it. Ok as for my new camaro I'm going to invest into a headers/y-pipe/cat-back setup. But the thing is I'm not really up to date on the y-pipe setups at all. Should I go with an ORY y-pipe or a catted-y? I'm also not really worried about the loss of a few horsepower either way. I'm just wondering if one is rather higher quality than the other. Also I hate an exhaust that has even the slightest rasp, so if one mutes that out I'm most likely to go with that type of Y. Also I plan to put on a set of QTP or Kooks longtubes and a B&B cat-back. Does anyone have a setup like this?...and does it sound nice? Also if anyone else has a better idea of something I should do please respond. Thanks for any responses. Joel

cats and any catback= pretty much NO RASP....there is the muscle car distortion but its not quite rasp...its toned

GMMG, Hooker, and Magnaflow are some ive heard with no rasp...

but all need CATS to be 100% sure

You will never completely eliminate rasp without cats...you can get damn close though. I added a bullet to my I-pipe with the current mods and the rasp is still there slightly but it sounds good.

i think depneding on year may play a factor....because of cam specs...i think it may come into play...im not sure which swill have more tho...98-00 or 01-02 98-00 has higher lift and duration but the 01-02 has a 115-116 LSA where as the other is a 119 LSA...so im not sure which will sound less raspy or even BETTER im still tring to find out

Just as said above, there are some things you can do to minimize rasp with an ORY, but the sure way is a catted y, IMO.

The only catback I've ever heard that effectively eliminated rasp with an ORY was the SLP dual/dual. Sounds mean and mellow. No rasp. No cats.
