GM Engine Managment Threshold
At what point is it aftermarket engine managment needed. If, when I build my 427 stroker LS1 twin turbo can I tune it well with the correct software? I will be using the truck heads to lower the compresion & a sleeved block.

Well you are going to run out of the limits of the MAf and MAP. MAP wouldn't be a big deal but the MAF will quickly max out leaving you with the PE table. This is Ok but like a carb. when its cold it will be lean and when its warm it will be rich. I would reccomend aftermarket like big stuff3.

There are a fair number of boosted low 9 sec LS1s with stock pcms. They truly are very versatile.
Check the acceleronics web page for a way to run the bigger injectors, but that seems to be the only trick.

I believe that you can manage that combo with the GMECM. If you have your fuel system covered than let us move on to the maf.
1.) even if the maf is maxed out you can still control the fuel PE vs RPM. not recommended
2.) there are ways of manipulating the maf to control more air, resistors and removing material from the maf so it "thinks" it is getting less air will drastically change the scale for which you can control up to 12000mHz. I would explore this route. you will have to enrichen the lower end of the fuel curve because you will have leaned it for more of a stretch up top. I feel that 800RWHP is very attainable with this setup and can be controlled as GM setup for it to be just slightly altered.

well... the fastest LS1 in the country is running stock PCM (Harlan ... 8.29@167 I believe)
The stock PCM is a powerful unit.. w/proper tuning it can support alot of power...
