Default Tuning costs

How much does it usually cost to have your engine tuned after a cam install?

but dont let price be your only factor, you cant put a dollar amount on an truly experienced tuner. i know plenty of people who basically threw money down the drain on a "tune" only to have to pay again for someone who knew what they were doing tune there ****.

Having my car tuned with LS1-Edit on a dyno by someone who knew what they were doing was far and away the best "bang for the buck" mod I have ever done. I may a little on the high side compared with most, but I gained 30 rwhp and 29 rw lb. ft. If one measures mods based on $/hp, tuning is about as good as it gets.

im a fan of self tuning now after my experience...overspent on a bad tune bought everything needed to tune myself then couldnt get any of the money back even though the tuner pulled the entire tune. FWIW i ended up running faster & quicker (ie mph & et) in 30 degree warmer weather(55F compared to 90F) with nothing other then idle and tranny shift point tuning. Hptuners costs ~$510 and if you have a laptop its that much easier...rent a dyno for a few hrs and read alot here on what parameters to change.

best bang for the buck is nitrous, but a close second is tuning

About how much did it run you to get that tune? I don't even know if I could find a good tune here in WV. Where did you get yours?

After a cam install is one of the best times to get the car tuned. Why? cuz usually it wont run and there are alot of gains to be had in driveability as well as WOT. I usually charge $375.00 plus whatever the cost of the dyno is usually $75-$100.00 depending on time. Then we take it out on the street and test her out and MAKE SURE things are right. I feel it is the best way to make sure the car will perform @ the track without being at the track and giving the customer the best bang for the buck.

I had this happen to me with my cam only setup. Car was just crap with the old tune, funny how me and foff667 had the same problems and we both brought to the same place Anyway i had it retuned my Mikey at Rapid and not only did my car pickup 21 rwhp on "my" old dyno sheet, the drivability is increadible.

I would suggest Rapid Motorsports in PA------------------------------> Its a bit of a drive but well worth it. I drove down from northern nj and could not be happier. Mikey will get it right.

I picked up 60RWHP and 82RWTQ after my tune a week ago. My AFR was way off before the tune. I needed more than stock RPMs also. $500. Best thing I did to my car. Runs so much better.

328hp before 388 after tune
291tq before 373 after tune
