Default dissapointed with my new exhaust setup!!

wish i had my old borla catback. i went to a true dual with bullet mufflers and X pipe(no cats) dumped, but the interior noise was killing me. i ran it for a while until i finally got tired of it....i decided to get talipipes under the axle and out the back after i got a ticket.
well.....now i can barely hear my car, the interior noise is gone but the car sounds almost like a stock car, i cant even hear it lope anymore. i didnt think that by adding tailpipes my car was going from sounding like a monster to sounding like a catted f-bod with a catback.
im going back to my good ole borla!!!!!.....it may not be dual, but atleast i have no other complains

Let someone else drive it and you watch and listen...you'll hear your car how everyone else hears it.

Have you actually heard the car driven past you? You moved the volume from under the car back to the rear. Of course it's going to quiet down a bit. ****... bullets out the back are still louder than a Borla... They are also known to muffle the lope the cam also...

well the car does get loud at wot, but it seems as if it lost the agressiveness of the exhaust tone. i wanna say it kinda sounds like if it had cats. i guess im just surprised by the big difference tailpipes made.....atleast it is not raspy...but im still not too sure about it.

It sounds like you just need a different muffler for your duals. Go back to dumps and try some sweethunders or borla.

All I know is when ever I would run open headers or open y-pipe it sounded good and I got use to it. But whenever I would put the exhaust back on even the open borla that I had was extremly silent to me. Key word me. Just drive around with it and you will get use to it. Trust me I bet your car sounds really good and I bet it's louder than you think.

I know mine quieted down too much after going out to the back. Im actually thinking about not running mufflers anymore since it quieted down so much! Its not just a difference in volume from inside. Its definately quieter at idle, standing behind the car. Dumps are way more crisp and agressive sounding.

My friend on this board has Pacesetter LT's, no cats, X-pipe, and out some Flo-Pro Twister mufflers all the way out the back. Honestly, I definitely don't think it is quiet or sounds similar to a stock car with just a cat-back. You can hear a small rumble in it while at a warm idle and it roars from the mid rpms up. Definitely NOT quiet from the outside. And bullets are definitely louder than Twisters, so I can't see how you think your car is that quiet. Rather, it's just that all of the sound has been directed out toward the rear of the car rather than under. And unless you really like the sound of the Borla better with your set-up, don't put it back on! That thing rasps like a **** without cats and sounds downright horrible IMO.

Good luck,

Mike

That X pipe is helping interior drone. That's why the Borla may have been louder inside the car. Keep your true duals and get different mufflers. Sweet Thunders should give you the sound you want. You may even want to look into a set of Flowmaster race mufflers as well, either the 1 chambers or their 2 chamber race (smaller than the regular 40 series).

if you haevent yanked it off yet consider having some tips made like the ones im attaching below .... i built this exhaust system myself with a summit kit and when im riding at a steady speed it is barely, and i mean barely louder than my borla cat back inside the car .... and think that the catback exited all the way at the back

It's true you need to hear your car when someone else drives it past you. i have an electronic cut out around the backseat area and when it's open I cant hear myself talk but when it goes through the mufflers you can hear a pin drop in the car but outside the car it's a different story. I let my friend drive mine down the street with the cut out closed and it's still lound just can't hear it inside the car that well.
