My next door neighbour never learns. This guy bought a 2004 black Honda Civic DX 2-door (manual) STOCK back in March and claims he took it to the track and ran 14.0 in the quarter. He claims, "I don't know how it happened, I was surprised myself, I guess my car is wicked fast". :eyes: This was back in March. At the time, 2 months before I bought my SS, I was driving my mom's 2002 Chrysler Sebring LX V6 (auto). I knew the car was good for low 16's in the quarter at around 85-87, so we agreed on a 40-120 roll. A friend of mine wanted in on the race with his 2000 Jetta GLS 1.8T 150hp (manual) so we agreed on a date, time, and place. It was an abandoned safe zone. The civic got the jump, by 75 I had 3 cars on him and my front was at the Jetta's rear. By 120, the jetta's front was at my rear and he was about 4 buses behind us.
The excuses began. He claims he left his front deflector on which caused enormous amounts of drag. He also claims his two 10" subs weigh 300 lbs with amp and wiring. Anyways, at least he agreed that he would have no chance against my Z which he says should run an 8-10 sec quarter mile with just a catback  . This guy is :jest: I bought a Mazda 3 hatch automatic 2.3L 160 hp, it is stock and he wants to run me same place, same race details but for 50 bucks. His only mod now is a fart car and 19" wheels. You guys think this is a safe bet?

I drove a Mazda 3 before...and my dad had a 2002 (I think) Civic. The Mazda should be able to take it without much of a problem.

Yeah...my SS ran a 7 second quarter mile with just a lid. Are people really that stupid about cars? Do they even know how fast a 8-10 second quarter mile is?

No, the majority of them out there don't.

get a 35 shot of nossssss, 12 decals, and an exhaust leak and you'll probably run low 3's.

Its funny how people remember what made them lose after the race...excuses are for retards even if you f&^&^ up and lose is still a loss.

Well, for those of you who have been following this thread, I raced the guy last night for the 50 bucks with my mazda 3 (see first post). The race was a little different than what was planned because he didn't want to go all the way to 120, so we agreed on 110 from a 40 roll (I suspect he tops out at or below 120 and that is his reason :judge: ). We were lined up at 40, I had the car in manual mode 2nd gear, I honked 3 times and hit it. I backed off right away because I pulled too hard, I figured he may not have understood or heard the 3 honks. I then notice him gaining so I hit it again. I hit the gas when his front was at my rear door and I slowly began to reel him in. We evened out when we were nose to nose, then I began to pull. I shut down at 110 like we said and there was 1 car length between his front and my ass. HE FLIES BY ME!!! We stop and he says that he won and it was his insane top end (6500-6700rpm) that was the cause of his passing me, not my backing off. He swears we were not at 110 yet. I explained that perhaps he wasn't, but he seemed not to care. Anyways, he refused to pay, and he asked me for 50 bucks! :punch:

Winter in Montreal is what happened to my Z. :( I start her up every weekend for a few minutes just to hear the sweet deep rumble of the LS1 from the stock tailpipes. I know he hears it on saturday mornings and is jealous his car doesn't sound like that. I guess that's why he got the fart can. :eyes: Maybe someone should let him know a $100 tin can will not turn your car into a mean sounding sob :lurk:

UPDATE
We raced again, this time from a dig. He got a half second punch, by 70 there was a car length between us. We stopped at a light and he looked pissed. He said: "What the fuck is wrong with my car??? I swear it used to be faster than this!" :eyes: We drove off. This morning I'm off work and so is he so I offer him a ride in my Z, seeing that the weather is nice today and all. I took it on the highway (first time since early december) and did a few 45mph puches in second to 70. He was SCARED!  He kept whispering loudly OMG every time I puched the gas! :jest: Needless to say, he was impressed. He now says he will sell his civic and buy an accord coupe V6, not a tire burner but a quick car nonetheless. Until then...

Funny mix of cars seeing how I drive an M6 Camaro, M5 Civic, and A4 Mazda3 also. From a roll an automatic Mazda could take a manual civic assuming your driving the Mazda in "Manual" mode. I have yet to figure out how to launch the Mazda from a dig. God I hate autos!
I had a blast today street racing my Mazda 3 against a buddies V6 Camry during a rain storm. Killed him! :fart:

I refer to my car as a Z. Didn't the first SS 4th gen bare the badge Z28? Isn't the official name Z28 SS. And no, I don't think he knows the difference anyways.

EDIT
An SS is simply a Z28 with the SS package

I actually live in Sorel, outside greater montreal. I've never heard of montrealracing.com. I'm not a serious street/track racer, I've always wanted to go to Napierville dragway but never got around to it. I'll check out the site tonight. :D
