Default Best Headers Around

hey ya'll I am definately looking to do headers this year! I bought the GMMG exhaust and want a really good set of headers. Can anyone give some advise for a great set up! Sorry if this thread is already been put somewhere, but I am a little behind! Does anyone know if there are GP going on for headers?

There is a big selection of LS1 headers ranging from shorties to mid-lengths and to long tubes. Quality ranges from okay to excellent which also means the prices vary dramatically. You need to determine what you want to do with the car first. Then do a search here (starting with the exhaust guide at the top of this section). I would also suggest talk to some local LS1 owners for sounds samples and their experience.

QTP headers and Y pipes are THE best IMO. http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/

The difference between HP in the various longtube setups are neglible. I'd go with a set of coated headers of your choice. You can't go wrong with long tubes. Best mod for HP you can do as far as bolt-ons go.

Kooks, QTP's, or Hooker. All must be coated (or stainless for Kooks)!

QTP or Kooks stainless. They are very much the same, slight difference in the Y pipe. Those two are about the best, you'll need to do some research on the others.

I went with SLP,s Long tubes with there matching Y pipe and a set of there high flowing cats, and cat back system. Excellent kit no cutting or major mods or problems. They even have great installation kit with gaskets and o2 sensor harness extensions. Been on for about 10,000 miles and coating still looks as good as they did when they were put on. excellent incrase in power and preformance.

618, no clearance problems? The SLP headers hang about a 1/2 inch to 3/4 of an inch lower than most other headers.

Also, QTP only comes in stainless steel. Kooks has SS or coating as options. Hooker offers both SS and coated headers now.

I got Kooks SS Long Tubes & Catted-Y with my GMMG Exhaust!!.. and I absolutely LOVE the power and SOUND!! .. Above 2000 rpms, that combination sounds very mean!!

I would NOT recommend going with an Off Road Y [ORY] Pipe with GMMG exhaust.. even with a catted-Y, there is some rasp.. I can only imagine what it must be like with an ORY!

with the gmmg i would go kooks with cats, but if you don't mind rasp, you should look into the new ti-tech coated edelbrocks that are stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8

for the price you cant go wrong with coated hookers
they fit perfect, coating holds up nice, and the y-pipe does not bang on my car at all

best headers for the money but you cant go wrong with kooks
