mid 13 sec Lt1 bolton almost beat my mid 12 second b/o ls1!?!?

Default mid 13 sec Lt1 bolton almost beat my mid 12 second b/o ls1!?!?

Backgound info :aight well i was taken my girl to the doctor today, she used to live about 30 minutes from me before we moved in together... so to make a long story short whenever i would drop her at nite, i would roll to the local hangouts down there before the drive back, needless to say i know about 500 million ppl and domestic cars withing a 50-60 mile radius around me..

The race: well i ran into a buddy who i hadn't seen in a while on the main road 55mph speed limit thru town, in his 6p lt1 car.. car is not a slouch by any means, 4.10 gear,headers, x pipe, cai, and some weight reduction ect.. ive added a 3000 stall and ported mac mids and ory to the mod list since ive ran anyone so i wanted to try it out. i gave him the wave to get the jump.... and boy, DID HE JUMP out about 3/4 of a car really fast... i was like omg wtf is happening, please let this just be a 6sp from a roll mod.. just stayed in it till about 120 and finally slowly up in third gear came back around him especially after 100, i chalk this up to his 4.10.. i was still shocked though as his car had only ran 8.80s in the 1/8th 1 year prior, and mine had ran 8.0's before i added those mods above.. THEN HE PURGED AT THE NEXT STOPLIGHT AND WAVED AT ME .... shooo let out a big sigh of relief!! im on the bottle as well though not this race.. and should have known right away he was juicin' her..

conclusion: for those who dont know the reason this is so crucial, there is a lt1 around here that really wants to run me, all the mods that guy has and then some, auto with a 3800 stall and race built trans.. also has 4.10s.. i know this guy was only spraying a 100 dry shot, which he claimed only had right at 900 bottle pressure, which i thought was good, but he beat this kids car stock to stock waaaay back in the day when we all first had our cars.. so im thinking.. this kid who suddenly got cocky here lately is going to lose his pride now, b/c he will not even start to put the spray to it!

I don't understand. You were able to pull on a bolton M6 LT1 running a 100 shot of nitrous in your bolt on A4 LS1 Sounds fishy.

uhh yea.. lol, spoken like a tru lt1 owner no offense.. figure my car sets at 12.30 right now... his prolly would run mid 13's off the bottle.. add in a 100 shot, prolly 70rwhp and i dont think that makes up his second.. plus i really only started to pull about mid 3rd gear... i believe his 4.10's might have hurt him up there, and if it didn't it is still way to much gear for a b/o lt1, or spray either way.. hell maybe i can find his # somewhere around here and get him to post up, hes a pretty cool guy.

i also ran a 94 corvette motor to motor and pulled him about 3-4 cars from a dig to about 80ish... then he sprayed a zex 75 shot, and i got him by 1 car and i spun a lil both times.. also a m6, with some exhuast work but i dont think he had headers, stock 3.42 gear i believe.. i used to work with him, want me to have him post?

and i ran a b/o gt with a 373 gear and a 75 shot, then a 100 shot from 0 and 20mph rolls.... once again with me on motor, gt was a 5sp, 3-4 cars from a stop, about 2 cars from the roll. i dont think he has a computer tho so i cant get him to post..

Well, guess you have a beast no doubt. Congrats. Just seems odd to me that you would win with him spraying. I have raced a few 02 bolt on M6 ls1s at the track and have never had a problem pulling on them in my Vette even with my 2.59 rear gear. I put down 350 RWHP. Considering a healthy LT1 M6 can put down between 260-270 RWHP bone stock, I would think with boltons and a 100 shot, it would be more than enough to beat a bolt on LS1. Just my $0.02

i'm going to have to agree...i would think a bolt on m6 lt1 with a 100shot would be able to take your stalled bolton ls1....just my opinion

well yea.. hell i was shocked.. i think his 4.10 hurt him up top.. i think he was just running out of room for one thing... now my car did run 12.80 with a lid and cutout before the free mods even.. and then later on went 8.0 with the stock stall and manifolds cats at the local 1/8th mile track in some good cold air.... havn't had a chance to run the 1/4 mile again but my times do seem to be .2 -.3 tenths ahead of most, which i chalk up to the car wieghing 3480 with me setting in it and 3/4 tank of gas the only time i ever got to weigh it.. since then ive pulled off about 120lbs of crap that i dont even miss being there.. his car has a dvd player, tv's, playstation among other things lol, so its prolly quite a difference there alone with mine setting at 3300 and his closer to atleast 3700.. the only reason i even posted about this is i was wondering about another race with a lt1 car a while back and this guy beat that guy motor to motor.... that was the only reason it even mattered to me.

on a side note, my buddy's cammed lt1 camaro that made 355/353. 6sp and pretty stripped down did pull about 1 car on me... though my trans did break all the pieces about 25 miles later down the road and ive since added the stall when i rebuilt it and headers and off road y pipe.. so all in all who knows maybe the other guy was an idiot, but that is what he said im no liar.

also third gear is the m6's sweet spot...i just don't see an auto pulling an m6 in third gear....especially since it was a close race up until then...i also don't see an lt1 m6 jumping a stalled ls1 unless he had sticky tires...not calling cause anything can happen on the street...

ran from about a 45-50 roll or so.. he jumped out on me i think b/c the gear, the spray, and the m6 factor.. i held it there at about a car length until 90-100, then he started slowly falling off till i edged him out around 120-125... i believe if he didn't have the xtra wieght and a 4.10 gear which i would never run in a stock motor'd lt1 car.. he would have held me off... like i siad i openly admit to losing by a car to my buddy's 97 camed z28 that made 355 to the wheels and he had a 6sp.. he too jumped out on me from a 40 roll, sucky point in my car to start from, but held me off all the way and prolly added half a car. so hell i dunno, but he purged, and he acknowledge the fact he was spraying ect.. so i dont see why he'd wanna lie we go waaaay back. and i have no reason to lie, i just thought it was a good race to post about..

plus motor to motor im sorry, but i would have ate him alive... especially going from 50-125... i would say this z28 on a 100 shot would run about as quick as a gt on a 100 shot, infact ive seen him lose to a gt motor to motor.. maybe his car is just messed up or he cant drive.

well he probably would have if he'd had it setup right... i think it also is a pretty ragged out motor.. i mean lots of miles and the guy dogs the **** out of it im sure from what ive seen of it.

I'm not calling BS, I realize that there's no doubt this race could have went the way it did, but he should have beaten you if his car was running right and if he was a decent driver, period. No arguing that.

The LT1 is no L98.

When my car was cam-only, putting down 390rwhp thru 4.11's (M6- trapping 118mph at the time) I ran a a buddy of mine spraying 150shot on his near stock LT1 '97 TA (M6- I think on stock rear gears).... WE RAN DEAD EVEN from 40mph to 115mph.... on 2 rolls.

Maybe this guy's 4.10's did hurt him? Dunno, but the outcome is strange... and then again, anything happens on the street.

my car is not exactly weak tho ya know.... i mean 12.80's with lid and cutout aint bad for a stock stalled, geared ls1...

I think I remember reading about that race a few months back I think. Was that a guy named Sparks in a white TA?

HAHAHA, whats that suspose to mean? you act like the lt1 is a v6 or something and the ls1 is suspose to rape a lt1. I dunno about u lt1 owners, but my LT1 isn't stock, and i have ripped apart many non-stock LS1s, and i have lost to many non-stock ls1s. Were on the same side last time i checked, but its just funny watching SOME of these ls1 owners talk **** about a lt1. If u wanna come to MD, i can make sure u add a loss to that ls1 of yours Good run none-the-less
