Question New thought!! Need your opinion

I am really torn now!! I was set on the TTT's and moments away from ordering them this morning until I found this wheel from Discount Tire. It is a Boyd Coddington Smoothie 2 with a gunmetal center. I priced a set from Discount tire with 2 17x10's and 2 17x8's with 245/45/17's for the front and 285/40/17 for the rear and it was 1900.00. I cant get anymore prices on the gunmetal wheel as it is made for Discount Tire only. Does anyone have pics of this wheel, or the polished version on a f-body. Also do you think these will look good in gunmetal on my red Trans Am? They look similar to the TTT's. Your opinions will be greatly appreciated. Here is the pic of the wheel.

A more detailed picture can be seen here: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/pr...smo.gmp.xl.jpg

Thanks again in advance. Rob

I think they look good, and then you won't have the too common torque thrusts. I love the torque thrust IIs though, but they are really becoming common.

Nice looking wheel and you would be unique for a short while anyways.

The gunmetal should look great on a red T/A

get the boyds, the painted center will be awesome because when the insides are poolished its a pain to get where the spokes touch the hoop clean, and dirt eventually accumulates in there where you just cant reach, the gunmetal will not only look better but it will hide the little bit of dirt you dont be able to keep out, and still have the lip for some bling

These will definatly give you a more modern and unique look. However I've heard about problems with the boyd wheels.

Go with the smoothies. Originality does a lot for your car.

The only real difference between those and TTIIs with Gunmetal spokes is that TTIIs have a polished center and cost about $500 less. Either one will look good.

I would stay away from the Boyd Coddington rims. I have a set and am very disappointed in the quality.

Well, I made the purchase this morning from my local Discount Tire store for $1800.00. I also ordered new BMR coil springs to go with my new KYB AGX shocks and struts. I currently run Eibach pro kits, but the rear sag was too much and dissapointing to leave them on. I ordered 2 17x10's and 2 17x8's. The tires are Kumho ASX 245/45/17's and 285/40/18's. I went with the Kumho ASX's because they offer a longer tread life than the BFG KDWS's and they were cheaper. By the way I also got my new WS9 hood from US Exotics back from the body shop and had it installed this morning, it looks SWEET!! I will post pics as soon as I have everything installed!!!!

Hurry up and get them, because I guarantee you 10 more people are ordering them at this very minute! You want to be able to post the first pics.

Please tell me you didn't order 18" tires for your 17" wheels!

Nice choice on the wheels. I don't have any comment on the quality of Boyd wheels, but they look darn nice.
