It's the firing order more then anything else. Both the 5.0 and 4.6 fire 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. That has more to do with it I think than true duals. A Viper has dual exhaust but it still sounds like a UPS truck.

I'm sick of having that discussion.

I have a '74 Camaro with Summitracing headers and Flows on it. It sounds pretty close to the stangs. 3" colecters to a 2 1/2 pipe into 2 1/4 Flows out to 2 1/4 tails that are turned out right behind the rear wheels.

By the way the muffs are the same ones that are called for on the Stangs. I think the numbers on them are 42332 or something like that. My car is being painted so I can't go and look @ it right now.

well, my 5.0 has 1+7/8 shorty equal-length headers, off road h-pipe, and flowmasters dumped under the car. It sounds BADASS, but my camaro will still eat it alive.
To tell you the truth, I drive the 'stang just for the sound.

A lot of mustangs also run magnaflow magnapacks, something that is not offered with the camaro, although there are a couple of guys running 69' GM style chambered mufflers out the back(I never heard one so i couldn't tell you how it sounds ). Their is also a huge difference in the way the LT1 sounds vs the LS1. I have found that the LT1's sound much more like the stangs that the LS1's
at least with magnaflow mufflers.

The thing is they are all true dual (STANGS), All mustangs come with factory headers. Could it be the dual mufflers? Wish Chevy would have gave us a package like that. EVEN THE V6 STANG COME WITH HEADERS!!!

Had an 01 GT and only changed out the mufflers to get a killer sound.

My wife has a 2000 Mustang GT. We put the full Bassani system on - mid-length headers, X-pipe, and catback. It sounds fantastic! But, the drone at 2000 rpm will give me a headache after driving for a while and my Trans Am will still clean it's clock everytime. But, it's not super slow - we went to the track Friday and Sunday - it ran 13.58@102. Not too bad, expecially with crappy Yokohoma ES100's! 2.006 60 foot time!! I think it was the driver (slightly biased!)
