Are those bulkhead fittings like when you add an outlet to a fuel cell? I wonder if they would work in a steel tank. I could fill my tank with water and drill a hole in it but I dont think I have the ***** to weld a sump in it. Welding on a used gas tank scares the crap out of me and i cant find a place in town that will do it.

I wonder if that whole 1/4 tank thing also extends to all sumped tanks? or do they avoid that problem with the baffling. I dont know if I have the disipline to keep more than a 1/4 tank at all times!! lol!! I am shooting for 600 rw this year so that really puts me in between a walbro and a race setup. I guess i might try a BAP with my intank since I am going with rails and an FPR, my hot parts wont support much more.

We will typically weld steel fittings to the 93-98 stock tank rather than using the bulkheads. The dual Walbro setup pictured above has supported over 800RWHP on several ocassions.

To be honest tom if I had you guys weld something I would definately go with a sump and some baffling holes. The CE sump from summit can be easily modifiled with two cuts and a bend to fit the metal tank. I dont think I could mail a used gas tank to you guys though, maybe ground shipping?? Do you guys take work like that? I cant really find someone to weld a used tank around here.

We can do it, but you may be able to find someone local. IT would save you shipping $$, and probably be a bit more convenient.

I found a local guy to sump my stock 98 metal tank. He charged me $100 and i pulled the tank and let it sit whith water in it for a few days and he filled it full or orreegon and went to town... i used the compitition engineering sump from Summit.
Heres a couple pics....... i plan on running dual Bousch 420L's this yr with my new setup......

Kyle, you mean they filled it with argon? An inert gas before they welded it? After you let it sit for a few days with the H2O in it? Hum, Any weight differences between the metal tanks and the plastic ones?? I can definately source someone to weld it. It's good having friends!

Clean the tank out at a radiator shop...Boil it out. Then take it to a local welding guy and he will do it no problemo!

Yep that exactly what i did..... Then i took it home and filled it full of water and checked for leaks and then dumped it and let it dry and put it backin......
I beleve the guy charged me $75 and it was his Argon.... The sump was from Compitition Engineering and was about $65 from Summit.
