Default Brand New C6 VS. Grand Prix GTP

I pretty new to this site and I just stumbled upon this forum, but I have a story to tell. This happened a few months ago at E-Town, last of there import vs. american muscle days for the year, well anyway every once and while it would be american vs. american, so up to the line comes a brand new C6 (still had temp plate in window) and on the other side a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (supercharged V6), but took of fast, the C6 was ahead at the beginning, but then I would say at about half track the GTP passed the C6 and took it overall, the GTP ran like 12.6 I think (it was heavily modded though) and the C6 ran about 12.8, if I remember correctly. Thats fast stock, but what suprised me was the GTP, there are a lot of quick GTP's out there, just a warning to some people who think they are just family cars. Sorry for the long post.

I think it was around 112MPH but I'm not sure, this was a couple of months ago (November) and I was telling the story from memory, although I have a vid of it somewhere, but I just can't find the damn thing.

Damn that's a little low for that new vette. Should be around 115. Only has 5hp less than the current Z06. Maybe he was gettin used to the stick or it may have been an auto.

Cars at the track are crazy. You can have little VW beetles run extremely quick.

Yea I know, there on the same day, an older Ford Ranger pickup with a diesel comes up to the line, everybody was saying it was going to be slow as all hell, it ran the fastest time of the day, somewher in the low 8's like 8.3 if I remember correctly, and thats 1/4 mile not 1/8th of a mile.

There is no way a low 8 second pickup truck doesn't look like an 8 second vehile.

I don't know why you don't think a Diesel can be that quick.... There is a Dodge, Ext. cab 4x4 that is lifted sittin on 18's or 20's here in my town with a cummins diesel in it that runs 11.4 in the 1/4. Now you take that same motor and put it in something that weighs half as much and Single digits are very possible.... Maybe not 8's, but it would be close. I'm just saying that with the tourqe of a diesel, in something lightweight that could hook good....it would be blistering fast.

LOL. No, I didn't. I still don't believe there is a such a thing as a Diesel car/truck running 8's.

And there is a HUGE difference between 11.4 and 8.x.

Yeah I could believe a diesal running 8's hell theirs Duramax's running 11's in a 7000 pound truck. Now put that same motor in a truck that weighs 60% less and I could possibly see a high 8.
