Default 98 Formula vs WRX-STI

Hey guys check this out. I got a guy at work that wants to go buy a WRX-STI just so he can race me. He thinks that he will walk all over me in tha thing. My mods are in sig and I have a set of street slicks in the garage. I keep telling this guy that he will be wasting his money but he swears up and down that the stock STI will own my ***. Lets all tell him what it will really look like. Oh yeah I have upgraded to a 3300 Yank so go me on that one. I think this guy really needs to see the full potential of a pissed off formula in front of him hehehe. So what you guys think should i rip him a new one and then let him know how much money he wasted or just act all innocent and beat a couple hundred on it.

The main advantage a stock STI has is from a dig, once over about 70 mph, it is over for them as they do not have the power to keep up with a stock LS1, much less a heads/cam LS1. However, if you have slicks and a converter, and get to race on slicks, then this whole race will be a joke and you will destroy him from the get go. A heads/cam/converter LS1 can run 10s in some cases (11s more typical); you would beat him by at least 25 lengths if you hook. You may tell him that someone who has owned both a modded LS1 car and an STi has said that he is going to get destroyed.

A modded STi is a whole different matter, as they can be made to run 11s without too much difficulty (needs exhaust, big turbo, upgraded clutch, new rails/injectors/fuel pump, and computer tuning), and can run that on the street on radials. There are not that many STis modded to that level, though, and a stock STi is just going to be destroyed by you. I honestly don't even think it is worth your running him, unless a serious lesson needs to be taught.

Beat him for his $ if he's stupid enough to buy a car just to beat someone.

Couldn't agree more. If he's dumb enough to go out and spend $30K on a car just to make a point (a wrong point, at that), then you might as well tell him to put $1000 on this race to make it worth your time. If he's gonna waste $30K, then another $1K won't matter much.

Yea...but over 30K to prove a point?
Stock, we all know this kid doesnt stand a chance...
I think his cheese slid off his cracker, or he's talkin Smack to get you out on the street.

A guy at work has an WRX STI supposedly modified. He shows 12 second slips, never seen him run at the track. (new motor, rails, cam, PC controllers..etc...)
I dunno...I just dont understand why you would want to spend over 30K for a brand new car...then have to spend another 10K to make it as fast as a V8 fuelie. (Not to mention strength and durability)
WHY??
I'd have more fun in a 70 TA, all rusted to the ground with a rat motor, spending 5K, and obliterating him from the get-go. Just roll down the window and say "You paid too much"
Everybody's got their thing I guess. Even if it involves "Raping and Plummaging of the bunghole"
