Need expert advice on set up options
well this is what i have working right now.
current set up:
stock 3.42's with one wheel peel on my 5.3L silvy.
New set up wanted:
either 3.90 or 4.10 gears with a G80 chevy unit.
I have a someone that has a G80 unit that he will be pulling out this weekend. i am wanting to put it into my truck and also do a gears swap at the same time. i am just needing to know if this is possible to use the G80 with those size gears in a 02 silvy 1/2 ton. somebody just give me some info on the G80 itself and then on if this would be a good idea to do. please!

The time you are spending biulding that rear is worth more than the G80. You can buy Aburns for just over $300-ish retail, just spend the extra cash. You can buy an Eaton for a little more, but you will have to wait. The G80 is like a woman, it will cause you pain sooner or later. If you are getting it for close to free and doing your own work, then I guess there is no loss. Otherwise, spend the extra cash.
