Machine shop messed up my pulley!!!!

Brought it to them to have machined for the double roller timing chain. told them what to do insted they took .180 of the end of it insted of extending the shoulder. whould it be safe to run if i take off the .180 and make the shoulder again

The main thing is to make sure the front seal will still seal off. It doesnt look like they took any off the diameter just took material off the back of the balancer/pulley itself. Did they ever take the .180 off the right area after all the nonsence?

Yeah, if you are sure you explained everything clearly to that shop take it to ANOTHER shop and have it finished up. Should be fine and in actual reality the way its done looks like you will have a little extra clearance for the timing cover atleast.

Isn't the pulley supposed to seat on the timing gear to keep it firmly in place? If they shortened it, it wouldn't be touching the timing gear, plus the pully would fully seat on the crank, which it's not supposed to. I don't think the pulley would torque to spec then either. This assuming the shortened it .180".

ya i would make sure that seats against the timing gear. when the pulley is fully seated it should sit about 2 mm higher the the crank nose. the reason gm has such crazy torque on that bolt is cause the crank uses a forged roll-pin, and if the clamp load isnt between the pulley and timing gear u can rip off the roll pin which will let the timing gear freewheel. i work at the dealer and i have seen it, its not pretty
