Default I know it has been here before, but.....

I need to get a min of 500fwhp out of an ls1 on pump gas the more, the better. I did do a search but cant find any real answers as far as cam, pistons, rods, heads, etc, etc. This will be in an offroad application only ie trophy truck/prerunner/truggy and so on. That means no emissions, very, very little electronics, and mated to a th400. It will have headers and a custom intake. I plan on buying the motor from a wrecked car, then rebuilding it. I would like an aggressive cam, good heads or good ported stock heads, forged pistons, etc. IOf at all possible, can anyone tell me the best combo for my application??? Next question is the computer, if I change all these things and get rid of all emisions, electric trans, etcx. Will the stock cumputer wourk with a little reprogramming? Or would I be better off with an aftermarket comp? If I can get the motor to at least run with the stock one, then I can take the motor to a person to have a custom computer built for it. There are many people here locally that do these computers for the offroad motors. Sorry for the long post, but I need some advice. Thanks, Joey

You can do that with heads+cam. The H/C "Feature of the Month" is a G5x3 and AFR 205 heads. 500 fwhp easy.

So if I take a STOCK motor, change the heads and a cam, nothing else, I can get 500hp? is the G5x3 and AFR 205 heads an aggressive upgrade? Can I go more?

500 flywheel equates to ~423rwhp through an m6. the th400 will suck more power. you'll need heads, cam, LT type headers, intake, air box, pulley, TB, ect.

Sorry, as mentioned above... you'll need some supporting modifications.
