Default Killed by a C5

Buddy of mine (87 C4 I believe) and me were headed home last night and came across what appeared to be a stock C5. YEAH RIGHT lol. Went from about a 50 roll and it was all over. Gave him the jump- bad move, though it wouldn't have mattered anyway. Had to be a H/C car. He pulled me from about 50-110. First time I've had my *** handed to me in awhile. I'd be happy to lose to that car anyday of the week. Though I'd be much happier winning

Well, I finally ran at the track today (new best----by a second and a half) Wasn't going for reaction time, just trying to launch the car as hard as possible.

R/T----.342
60'-----1.639
330----4.796
1/8----7.499
MPH---89.45
1000--9.884
1/4---11.905
MPH--111.78

I was pretty happy with the times. Car was running pretty damn consistant (worst time was a 12.16 with 28lbs in the tires and no burnout). I was even more impressed by the 60-ft's I was cutting. I am running on a 17" M/T drag radial and was dead-hooking. Even pulled the front left off the ground Those tires are bad-*** Bone-stock suspension, gotta do something about that. I was having a bit of a "problem". When the car was shifted to 3rd, it seemed to drop off a couple hundred more rpm's (definately wasn't in the powerband.) than 1-2 shift. I don't know if it is the 3.42's or not, but I raised the 2-3 shift by 200 rpm when I got home You can hear it in the vid....sounds like I'm letting off. With my 7.499 1/8, I should be in the 11.70'shttp://www.corvettekillstories.com/p.../cecil_011.MOV

Kudos to you for finding a C5 that will race...and a modded one at that! Nice death also. I still get it handed to me by stock ones, so to me the death is quite a respectful one, especially considering where your car currently is performance wise.

kjmdrumz3, If you were on Rt 10 and it was a black C5 Vette then I think it was me. I usually don't do stuff like that! Good run though! I thought about following you guys to Rt 2, but I figured I should get home before I got myself into trouble!

You are correct about the car. AFR heads, 224/228 581 588 cam. It runs great! I've only had it to the track once. It ran 11.86@ 124 with a 2.0x 60 foot on the stock tires.

Yep, M6. I guess if you couldn't tell it was an M6, I must have been shifting well. I actually started in 3rd which kind of sucks at 50mph, but in 2nd it just would have smoked the tires

I didn't mean to steal the jump. You probably couldn't see, but your buddy in the Vette took off first and I was just going with that.

Your car looks and sounds good. Maybe I'll see you around again sometime.

I don’t know where people are hanging out these days. On Saturday night I noticed a few cars (a couple of first gen Camaros, a couple of 3rd gen Camaros, a couple Chevelles and a couple Vettes) parked at the Dunkin Doughnuts on Ritchie Hwy between Furnace Branch and 8th ave.

Hey man good run! i knew i was in trouble when we both cracked it open at 20 mph on furnace branch road! i spun hard on DR's. i was hoping we could of went 3 wide on 10 but i can't remember what happened. i think there was some slower traffic in 1 of the lanes or something.

you should come hang out with us sometime. we are usually at Ann's on friday and sat nights at 9 pm.

nice *** C5 by the way! sounded GREAT!

Yeah, arent my numbers unheard of on an LS1? I mean, the fact that my torque is way higher than my HP?

I took notice. The gas wouldn't go any further to the floor. It also didn't help that I was running on my partial throttle parameters

kjm,
Something had to be wrong with that dyno, I can't see how you possibly have that torque, it just doesn't make sense.
