I'm looking at putting a full exhaust system on my 98 T/A. I'd like to put cutouts on it but 150 a pice seems a little expensive, so i was thinking of only buying 1 and putting it in right at the front of the Y. I was wandering if anyone else has tried this and what were the results?

most ppl put the cutout there. might want to put a bullet muffler in the ipipe before the cutout to eliminate rasp.

I have a cutout on mine and it picked up 15.7rwhp/14.1rwtq according to the dyno. It sounds awesome when it is opened up too. The only problem I have with mine is that it seems like it doesn't shut completely and gives me a slight exhaust leak sound..haven't had a chance to really take a look at it yet.

You mean right behind the Y-pipe I suppose, right after the Y merge, in the I pipe, in the under-seat niche.

One cutout is plenty fine.

Just put one right after the ypipe in the I-pipe. The $150 ones are electric, personally i'd just get a $30 one and bend down and undo it yourself whenever you need it open.

I just installed one last Friday. It was a huge sound difference over my SLP Dual/Dual. As a matter of fact, I capped it this weekend intending to wait for the track to open it again. I drove about two blocks and couldn't stand it. So now it's open permanently. I even made a nifty little notched deepwell socket for tightening the wing nuts. I placed mine in the I-pipe where SouthFL.02.SS mentioned. Besides the interior drone, it was definitely worth the cash!
