Default 3.73 or 4.10 M6

I have the 231/237 cam and I need a steeper gear to take advantage of the cam.

I have the stock 3.42's now and a 10 bolt. I don't drag race - this is a street car.

thx

you wont be able to feel a step to 3.73's to make it even worth it. and i would not put gears in a 10 bolt, so i really shouldnt even chime in lol.

you'll love the 4.10's, if your rev limiter is stock, you might have to hit 5th before the 1/4 mile. i have 4.11's in my 12 bolt on 315 nittos, 0mph - top of first gear is outrageous feeling on good roads (grooved cement or somthing).

i'd say live with the 3.42's if this is your only car and save for a 12 bolt.

I love my 4.10s. Really, you only have one more shift to squeeze in spread out over 0 to highway cruising speed. The extra 20% applied torque is AMAZING! Also way easier to launch the car on street tires atleast. Using less throttle dosnt force you to bog.

Do I really need a 12 bolt for a street car on street tires?

I have a chance at some 4.10's cheap, but I have a A4. I didnt know if I should just go with 3.73's or go ahead and get some 4.10's. Any one have 4.10's with a A4? What RPM are you running at 55?

yes, i broke my 10 bolt w/ exhaust and 245/50/r16 street tires, having never gone to the track before. you can chance it if you have another car to drive when the 10 bolt blows, because w/ 400hp it WILL. i would never put 4.10's in a 10 bolt unless i owned a rear end shop and had about 12 of them outside. a stud girdle cover will help it live a little longer (w/ the 3.42's), and the MAC units can be had for next to nothing. once you get the 12 bolt, you can put on some DR's without batting an eye
