Tuning shift points for MPG / in-town driving?
I just got HP Tuners and I've been going through the 101 guide to get the basic stuff. But I wanted to get a little more specific information for my application.
I spend most of my time driving between 30-45 mph. I wanted to lock up the TC a little sooner and if it helps, adjust my shift points for this. I was hoping someone could tell me how to do this and any other advice would be great.

I set mine up for a pretty low lock at light pedal but an
increasing shift RPM as you get into it. I do not lock in
3rd but lock 4th at 40MPH. I didn't like having it lock
& unlock all the time. But you could play with that.
With the higher stall & STR you probably want to.
There's no reason you can't make the throttle position
an indicator of intent and vary the trans behavior by it.
I just uploaded my latest .bin to Horist's site. You want
to be selective about what you copy because I have
an oddball MAF, and some of my trans settings like force
motor are rigged to fight a TCC slip problem, I have 3.42s
and so on. But you can look at it and maybe come up with
a TCC lock/unlock profile for 3rd that suits you in town.
If so I'd be interested to see it, it just seemed more work
than it was worth to me as I live in a place where main
roads are 45, and my lower stall/STR still lets me cruise
unlocked at 1500-2000RPM.
JWS02SS_20050325A.bin is the new upload (though it gets
assigned another name I think). Look for 2002 Camaro bins
or my name.

If you lower the pts to far it'll labor through the gears and that might also decrease mpg. My TC will stay locked above 40mph with light/med throttle. With extremly light throttle I have it locked up to as low as 35mph. really helps when coasting around, I rarely am locked up that slow though.
