Default Is there any weight savings converting to manual locks and windows?

Looking to remove more weight and was wondering if there was any weight savings. If so, how much?

How can this be? I mean, obviously guys have weighed it, so it must be true... but it just seems like the crank assembly would weigh less.

I'd have to dig through the actual parts PDF file again, but the pic makes it look like the crank and arm assembly is the only thing that's different between power and manual windows.

I've heard that too but my car came with manual windows (and locks/mirrors/seats etc.) and my car is pretty damn light considering how little I have taken out of it so I'm not totally sure.

From the looks of the parts, the manual window should be lighter, because i know the crank is lighter than the motor and i dont think there is any other differences. But i dont think the price would be worth the weight saving. As far as the locks go, you already have the manual option on the locks, so just removed the electric parts that you dont want or use, now i have never had to replace a door lock actuator in a camaro, so i am not sure if the actuator is seperate or not from the door latch assembly, but i am sure you can get some weight out of it.

weight in this case means nothing to me, my power widow is a pain in the *** and i would trade anyone for a manual window set up.
i hate my power window, the wires come loose everytime i launch, the regulator burns out.
anyone want to trade? i have grey Z28 interior.

Well, same line of thinking, but more 9-second runs if I ever get my car back together. Anyways, I weighed a manual set up and a power set up (regulator, crank / motor, wiring, etc.), and there was only a bit over 3#'s TOTAL to be saved going to manual...I'll just eat less that day. On the power door locks and mirrors, there is less than 2#'s total going to manual on BOTH! Not like in the old days when you have huge motors, etc.

I was toying with converting to all manual, so, off a junk car, I bought some manual parts cheap to first weigh them. Sold them after weighing them. Take care. Dave

i removed the power locks, windows and power mirror and replaced them with manual stuff from a car i bought that was totaled. the power weight was 10lbs heavier than manual per door, and once i removed the door bar the weight went to 17lbs per door. so over all in the doors i lost 34lbs. so manual is less than power.

I figured that, now I know for sure why my 'near stock weight' car is so light.
