Friends M3 just spanked LS1 WS6
About two hours ago, my buddy who just picked up an 03 bimmer M3 with the SMG trans called me to tell me about a WS6 kill. For you locals, he was in the intersection of Golf/Higgins in Schaumburg. They met at a light and the ws6 threw him a rev. My buddy is not one to refuse a race (he has a 700+rwhp Iroc at home). Right off the line, he holeshotted the ws6 and shut down at a little over 100. Said he had the ws6 by about 3 cars. He said it was black with an aftermarket catback (sounded kinda loud).
We took the bimmer for a ride and it's definately a quick car, that trans shifts better than ANY other car I've ever been in. The shifts are hard and super fast. I can see why bimmer drivers love their cars so much.
Just wondering if it was anyone from in here.

good race
ive raced and 03 m3 from a roll, and he kept up till about 110 then i slowly started walkin him all the way till 150 puttin about 3-4 cars on im. my car has just an intake. i defenitly thought hed do better than that.

In mag testing, it's been more common for the SMG tranny to be a few tenths slower to 60 and through the 1/4 than the regular 6 speed. Maybe the WS6 driver sucked, or this was just a damn nice running SMG M3. Either way good stuff. Have your buddy post up some pics of his M3. I love those cars.

The newer M3s are dangerous. I did beat an older M3 a while ago. The WS6 might not have been much better than these new M3's (approx 300+ Hp). I believe it... but the WS6 could have done better.....

Ahh... I think the most common case is the LS1 wins, but usually not by a whole heck of a lot(assuming equal drivers). Nice kill for your friend! Must have a nicely running M3 and be a pretty decent driver to boot. They are definitely quick little cars.

There were no "stockish" LS1s to compare to however.

I've had no problems with the new M3's. I do love how they launch though. Their electronics balance the car at the edge of maximum traction and maximum acceleration. Ya get a little squawk and they're off.

On another note, he can pretty much drive any car really good. About ten years ago he had a1991 lx 5.0 hatch with only an off road hpipe and straight pipes. He ran 14.3x's with it pretty consistent (it was a 5 speed).
I'm just curious to see if it was a local guy to find out what mods the WS6 had. The two of us went from a 20mph roll and I pretty much ran away from him.

But its an SMG. My mom could drive it to a 13 second pass.
