Default Double Roller Timing Chain

Who makes the best adjustable timing chain? Do the double rollers make more noise over a single chain? Would there be an increase in rotational mass and a SLIGHT decrease in performance with a double roller? I know it couldn't be significant, just curious.

Does anyone make a gear drive? Could possibly go that way too, if it exists. (I've never understood the advantages of that on SBCs though, so maybe someone could explain).

no one makes a gear drive for the ls1....not to mention they are really loud...only advantage is that they won't break or stretch over time...however you get slightly more power loss...so unless you are making thousands of hp you don't need it...

I have also heard that the gear drive will reak havoc with the LS1 knock sensors. Not sure if it's true but that is what I've been told.

Very good point...I had never thought about that, but it makes sense since gear "clunk" could create false knock.
