Default Master Cylinder Replacement

Is it necessary to remove the tranny to replace the master cylinder? Any write-ups out there? My master cylinder is leaking bad and I need to replace it asap.

Peace

Master cylinder is on the firewall below the brake booster, it's removed by unbolting from under the dash. Slave cylinder is on the transmission & I would guess replacing that would require trans R&R.

you don't have to drop the tranny to replace the master. Installuniversity has a good write up.
