Default What's it take to get 11.5's on stock long block?

I'm new to LS1's and I'm wondering what it'll take to get the car into the mid to low 11's on the stock long block or if it's even possible...

No nitrous, no aftermarket cam, no aftermarket heads...aftermarket intake and other bolt-ons are ok though...

This is on a 2001 A4 Camaro SS BTW...

Thanks

LOL yeah right. You need to loose a ton of weight off your car if you want to do it with the stock heads. You are gonna have to change the cam or gut the car to nothing. You could always just do H&C and keep the rest of the car at full weight. My car is a fat pig.....3,700 lbs. with me in it. If I shaved every bit of weight off the car that I could my car would be in the 10's NA but I like my leather int. and my heat and AC ,pw,ps, etc.

I'll second that yeah right comment.

So, you want 11.5 NA, stock internal? Full exhaust, lid, intake manifold, ported TB, CAI, sticky tires, gears, big stall, weight reduction, suspension work. That is a good start. You probably won't make it though. 11.5 NA and SI would require a lot of work and/or weight reduction. Just to give you an idea, the bolt-ons LS1 M6 record is 11.54. My personal bet: You won't make it. (prove me wrong if you can!)
BTW: Stock long block is far from what you are looking at. You are looking at "bolt-ons only", or NA SI. (naturally aspirated, stock internals)

That's nice, but this guy specified no cam swap. Which is why it will be, uh, difficult....

It's also been awhile since he posted this and apparently hasn't checked back in....

It's doable.. especially at sea level. Here's a good start, although this probably won't do it:

Drag Wheels w/ skinnies.. and a good tire
12 bolt w/ whatever gear is necessary
Big stall (4400 or so)
Remove Bumper Supports, Front Sway bar, rear seats, seatbelts, spare tire/jack
Lightweight Battery
Full exhaust (Preferably dumps, for max power and weight loss)
Ported T.B.
Lid
Lca's/Torque Arm/Shocks/Springs/K-member/A-arms/PHR/Swaybar
Lightweight Driver
Good tune, Good weather/air.

That's what I would do.. I donno what that'll net you.. but you can always try and go from there.

Peace,
Josh

I love it when I see people post that they run mid 11's with heads and cam ...then I think about my car(SI) running 11.70's with 17" tires and weighing 3400 to meet NMCA rules back in 2002 and that was in june heat ...but yeah you do have to take some weight out like the back seat which everyone does.
Yes some cars are faster then others and location makes a difference. But now days some are just getting mid 12's with just a lid. My 02 vert with just a stall and blackwing kid was running 12.08 with no weight reduction and I had to add a 4pt rollbar in it.

A little arrogant, are we? I love it when people who are ahead of it the curve make others feel as though they are slow or havn't accomplished anything.

I don't think I would call that "bench racing". How high of a stall/steep of a gear did you run? To go 11.7 SI at 3400 pounds would require a faily aggressive setup or nitrous.....

I had a ST3500 YANK and was running 3.23's car had no back seat no swaybar and i had hals up front still had A/C at that point ,then put in a k member and removed a/c and installed a TP4000 and Mac headsers and went 11.45 then shorty after that I ran into a barrier wall at about 60mph and totaled the car. There have been some people on here that are going 11's with just a few mods and and no weight reduction. But like I said location and time of year makes a big difference. Just thought I"d add my .02 since I dont post much on any boards.
