Default Opinions......Ported Heads w/ Stock Cam???

What gains could I see from getting my stock 241 heads fully CNC'ed and hand finished while keeping my stock cam? Reason being, I want to avoid the lope and keep certain others thinking I have only a bolt-on car. I'm also considering spraying the car, would the heads help the nitrous gains in any significant way? Thanks!

I'm guessing 20 rwhp. There are aftermarket cams with a smooth idle, or LS6 cam.

You would gain between 20-40 RWHP with decent ported heads. I know AFR heads on a stock cam 2003 C5 picked up in this range. Do a search, Vinci performance did the work.

You are not alone. After the Vinci test, I have been thinking about the AFR heads and rockers with the stock cam.

Untouched LS6 heads have shown 10-15 rwhp gain on stock LS1 cams. So after thinking this through, 30 probably wouldnt be out of the question. With all the bolt ons, and the rocker arms, you could see very healthy gains! Id figure another 10 out of the 1.8 rockers and you could run 918 springs for a light valvetrain.

Im contemplating the same notion as my current situation is not a drag race friendly one and i drive the car every day. id like a set of ported heads with all the bolt ons. Wonder if 400 rwhp is attainable.

That isn't a bad idea. Sounds pretty cool and let us know what you do and the gains! Good Luck to you!

Add ported stock heads: 20-25 rwhp. Add AFR 205s: 35-40 rwhp. If you want to look and sounds stock, but make more power, check out this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/311937-395-rwhp-na-factory-manifolds-cats-catback.html

I'm not looking to spend the money on AFRs just for a sleeper setup, as badass as they may be.

You guys have any recommendations for shops that do nice work with the stock heads?
