Default spring question

i just put new 918 springs for my 224 cam, but i want to run the f13 now. just wondering if i would be safe with the 918's and if so ... for how long??

This is going to be a touchy subject, and youll probably get answers pointing both ways. the 918 are currently specified to handle up to .600 lift, which you just make it under with the f13. Some may argue that its too close to .600 lift. Well, if I recall, 918s used to be certified for .625 lift, but were downgraded once comp came out with ls1 dual springs. Also, there are many individuals who testify that 918s car run much higher than theyre rated for. Also of concern however is that the ramp rates on the f13 may be faster than other ~.600" cams, and this may be harder on your springs.

My take is that you could run them if you really had to, but you would want to check the spring pressure very frequently. Personally, if the springs are that new, I would just sell them and buy a new dual spring kit.

918's are fine with the FM13.
