Is anybody running a set of the Harland Sharp rocker arms or heard much about them, Ive been looking at getting a set for awhile and was just wondering if they would be a good investment.

I just sold a set. Good rockers for the money, but I think that unless you are using the high dollar rockers you are better off with stock ones. My $.02

you run the 1.8's with a hot cam? so you think i can get away with 1.8's on my cam? its a 224/224 .560/.560, so my lift would be around .593. i dont know if my lobe is too aggressive though, it isnt on a xer grind though.

Thanks for the replies, it seems that for the money ( half the cost of jesel, comp, or crane ) that these would be a good investment. My main goal for getting the rockers is to cut down on some of the valvetrian noise. Hopefuly

actually, i think i picked up some valvetrain noise. I got them because i upgraded everything else, and i didn't trust the stamped stock rockers. I just got them for piece of mind

I was told by the shop that done my H/C package that going to full roller rockers would help get rid of some of the valvetrain chatter.

the new crane accellerated lift rockers use a new type of bearing that is supposed to cut down on valvetrain noise. the new 1.7 design will give you more life from .000lift to .300 lift with a final ratio of 1.72:1. so theyll give you more power and less noise, but thyre like 699, but come with new studs, guide plates, and pushrods. they require shorter pushrods...im think about hese with my 224/224 .560/.560 cam.

Don't really want extra lift, I'm already running a comp 581 lift cam, just want to get rid of some of the valvetrian noise, but thanks I have not seen those yet.

they dont really increase the overall ratio, just the early ratio. so right off the bat their 1.7 rocker starts at a ratio of 1.79:1 as oppsed to about 1.52:1 for the stock pieces. this higher ratio converges on the stated ratio of 1.7:1 at .250-.300" lift and maintains the stated 1.7 ratio thoughout the rest of the duration until the valve closes and it then returns to the higher 1.79:1 ratio as the valve approaches its seat. im looking into these rockers myself. the new bearing allows for a stronger shaft and cause the new bearings support the shaft/rocker around the entire shaft instead of just at the ball bearing points.

Note: the final ratio would be 1.72:1, not 1.7, so your overall max lift will increase, but not by much. it really increases the ramp rate of your cam for more power especially on the low end. your lift would be as follows...

OLD lift: .581
NEW lift: .581/1.7*1.72=.588

I have a st on my 382. I had to do a bunch of grinding to get them to fit.

Would crane 1.7s combo fit XER lobes too or TR lobes like the TR224? It would be very convenient and possible increase midrange and off idle tq, or is that too steep.

My 402 with HS rockers seems way less like a sewing machine than the H/C/LT motor that preceded it.

i dont know about the xer grinds, but i called vinci today and he said that their accelerated lift cams arent quite as agreessive as an xer grind, but he uses 1.8s on his 228/236 .600/.600 cam. it may be possible, but if you have the tr224 cam with .563 lift, your new max lift will be around .596, so a comp 918 isnt going to like that too much. since your lifting and closing the valve so fast, the spring will have to be able to control it...at least a nce double spring will be in order...
