Default engine should be on the dyno this week ...any guesses?

heres a run down on the basic combo
-454 cubes
fully balanced and blueprinted
-12.25:1 comp
-GMPP Alum. Rect Port Head w/ 2.25/1.90 valves
-Fully Hydraulic Roller Setup w a 255/255 .612/.612 110 cam
-L88 Intake
-850 holley dp

Now the Engine builder says that he thinks itll make 700hp and i think itll make 650 what do u guys think?

If all goes as planned this motor will be going into a 66 impala ss with a 4500 stalled 400 and a 4.56 gear

HIGH 500'S LOW 600'S. anymore than that would be very optimistic

well heres the way i look at it the motor that this motor is based off of (ls7) has been said to be very close to almost 600 hp as it was in the crate. From that crate motor we have updated the outdated production iron head to a modern aluminum with bigger valves. we also have changed the valve train from a solid mechanical to a full hydrolic roller. i think these changes alone would be worth 50 hp so that is how i got my guess of 650

well i had a 13:5:1 468 with manley aluminum rods manley pistons forged crank all balanced, merlin 345's with 2.30 1.88 valves with a .284 .295 @.50 .700 lift solid roller on a team g single plane with an AED built 1150 dominator, electric water pump stud girdle arp everything studded, it made 700 hp so a mild 454 shouldn't hit 650 especially with your choice of intake and carb.

I'd agree on the 575-600 hp. The l88 intake is giving up ponies when compared to a single plane aftermarket intake with better design and flow paths.

better intake will definitely help.performer rpm air gap seems to work well and make good torque but 700 is very optimistic.most 496s barely make that with bigger cams and heads so i'd say 625-650 tops. bigger valve heads sometimes don't make more power than smaller valve heads if the runners aren't any better.
