Default T350 tailshaft/driveshaft questions

Which driveshaft are you guys using with t350? The T350 I have sitting here the output shaft is about 3/4 recessed into the tailshaft. Driveshaft place said measure tip of output shaft to centrline of rear yoke u joint. Told them about it being recessed said no problem
Problem is, I can bottom it out in the tailshaft and still wont fit in the yoke. Now assuming I had it cut shorter by an inch so I could get it in the yoke, now only about 2 3/4 inches at best would be splined onto the output shaft. is this enough?

Default How much does a converter have tp be pulled out of the front pump?

If you bottom converter out n the pump what is the minimum distanec it needs to be moved away from the pump before it is flush with the flexplate

You have a 700R4/4L60(E) Tailhousing on a th350.
The tailshaft is supposed to stick out about 3/4".
Don't know if that will work but I wouldn't run it like that.

1/8" to 3/16" works for me.
Make sure the converter pilot is into the crank enough.

what driveshaft are you using? stock ones have a donut ring around the slip yolk that will hit the tranny case before the splines bottom out. you can get a different slip yolk or a whole different DS. but i wouldn't cut it dowen i'de get rid of the doghnut. you want as much of the splines in the DS as possible.

Yes, you need to find a BOP, (thats Buick, Olds, Pontiac) TH350, TH250, TH350C, TH250C. These have a 2" speedometer sleeve hole that will run a 700R4 type speedo sender.

I'm not sure what you're doing so I don't know what you need for a sender. But if you have a cable driven mechanical to electric speedo adapter you can use any short TH350 tailhousing. Or if you just need to convert to 700R4 type sender do as above.
And you might have guessed these won't have the torque arm mounting provisions so you need an adapter for that.

I have one try a junkyard core pile or discard pile.
I can get th350 cores for $20, the ones with bop tail housings seem rare.

Not exactly, some mid to late 80's trucks and vans used the long tail with a small reluctor ring that would work.
Short tail th400's use large diameter output shafts so the reluctor ring off one of those won't work.

Also the th400 has a 1 7/8 speed sender hole. The BOP and 700R4's have 2" holes. If I remember correctly on the sizes, I know for a fact they are different.
