Default Who builds a good th400? Help please!!

Looking for a th400 auto to be able to handle 800hp. My motor will put out just over 500fwhp, but this will be used in a heavilly abused offroad application (trophy truck, pre-runner, etc, etc). I want the tranny to be the last of my worries. I have been talking to someone at Racetrans and have the basics of what I need. 34 element sprag, Alto Red Eagle clutches, Kolene coated seals, power pack in 2nd gear, welded band and bearings, 300m input shaft, 300m main shaft, steel forward clutch hub, 10" HD Continental converter with anti balloning plates 2500-3000.
I do not know much about tranny's, so does this sound about right? Is there any other builder I should talk to? What can I expect to pay for something like this? Thanks, Joey

I don't know anything about what it will take to make the tranny hold. If I can offer you any advice: Call rossler. You'll have to search for them, they are a non sponsor so no links.

I got my setup from Brian at Madman & Co. Racing. It's a hardcore transmission. My buddy Jeff had 1000hp+ going through his TH400 (Madman Racing) that was installed in a 9 second LT1 Camaro. I'm trusting my TH400 to handle even more power then that with the new motor.

Its an auto right? What was a ballpark price for that? Where is Madman Racing? Website? Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, its a TH400 with a transbrake, manual valve body, and it literally snaps your neck every time you hit a gear. I won't give a ballpark figure on it, talk to Brian.

He is on the sponsor list here. Tell him Jason from Omaha sent ya, might save you a couple of bucks.

Mike's Transmission up in Lancaster. Just about all of the locals run the Mike's transmission. If you go to a PSCA race, half the cars wear his sticker.

I personally know a lot of people running his transmissions with zero problems. He's a bit more expensive than Rossler or Transking, but since he's So. Cal. local, it pretty much offsets the shipping charges. Not to mention if you were to ever have a problem, Mike's is driving distance, rather than pay $300-$400 to ship the trans cross country and back.
