break in time?
installed my gears, put about 30 or so miles of stop and go traffic. Also, went through many heat cycles. They are strange 4.10 in an m6. They didn't whine all day untill the end of the night, an 03 cobra pulled up next to me. Put a car or so on him from a first gear punch. Today I take it out and it only whines on slight accel in 5&6 at 50+mph. Are strange gears just noisy or did I not wait long enough for break in? Backlash, gear pattern and pinion depth all good also.
Sorry, one more ? TA cover- came with 12 bolts, 11 w/ washers, 9 of them thin washers. Wich washers go where? Thanks for the help.

Damn, guess I didn't wait long enough cuz now they are even louder. Still just in 5th and 6th. Hope this as bad as it gets. Anymore and the car is down again.
What about the TA cover? Anyone no what I'm talking about? Thanks for replies.

ditto on the whine. and as far as breaking them in, once you have taken them through three full heat cycles, then you're good to go. No mileage, just drive em about 10 miles, let em cool for a half hour and repeat two more times.
