beefed up 10 bolt??
hey guys anyone know a way to beef up our 7.5" 10 bolts? axles are least likley to go first from what i've heard. ring and pinion and diff are what goes 9 out of 10 times so diff cover with preload bolts should help a little. ? anyone know 4 sure? ok what about welding the tubes? that do any good? what about fabing up a brace like a strongback would that help iyo any other ideas sounds like 99% of destruction is caused by the rear flexing (sheared teeth etc.) any ideas? is all this worth it? how much more life would it buy just wanted to see who has tried any of this. i had a 7.5 in a S-10 that lived for wears but that was with an auto and drag raidials. ok just running on now any thoughts ???? later

has anyone tried bracing up the rear or welding the tubes? seems like that would help even more than a cover yith preload bolts. and i know thew make braces for 9" that make them a lot stronger.

a buddy of mine has a 10 bolt in his 72 nova, and it holds up just fine. he pulls the wheels hard, and comes off the line with a 400 shot. All he has is welded tubes and a cover, with an eaton posi unit. You couldnt put a brace on the gm 10 bolt because the cover is in the back, they make them for 9 inches because the whole center section, or pumkin unbolts from the front, anyways, his is fine, and is 2 seasons old, but doesnt have any wheel hop. Wheel hop is the killer. Also has moser axles.

Some GM cars have the 8.5" 10-bolt which is pretty durable. The 7.5" or 7.625" 10-bolt sissy-chunks are the weak ones.
