umi stick wont go into 2nd
Well after installing the short stick i noticed that it was hitting the console going into 2nd. So i took it for a test drive and everytime i shifted into 2nd it would hit up against the console, and this was the only gear that it would do it in. Eventually it wouldnt even let me go into 2nd. Any ideas why I would have trouble with this?

I have the UMI stick and it works fine for me. I had it on the stock hurst and now the pro 50
did you add washers between the stick and shifter? maybe it's spaced out too far.
what exactly is hitting, the top of the stick, or near the bolts?

Without knowing exactly what is going on, I'd say call Ryan at UMI and explain the problem to him. I'm sure it's something either simple to fix or else he has an even better way to remedy the problem. Good luck

its hitting towards the top of the stick. I actually pulled the boot off and that gave me just enough room to go into 2nd while driving. However with the boot on there during driving it doesnt allow me enough room to get it into gear without it popping back out. So we are talking about a 1/4" clearance. I am assuming if i went ahead and bought a pro 50 this would remedy the problem, and i would have a nice shifter to boot?

I think I can tell you the problem.
The short stick is only designed to work with the stock Hurst shifter base and the Pro 5.0 base. It will hit the console on models running the stock Non-Hurst base which it sounds like this is what you have. I do have this listed on the web site as well.
Sorry you are having trouble, let me know if that is what you think it is.
