guys with 4.10s please
ok my car isnt anything much and at most it might see an ls6 cam--just the bolt ons now--i have 4.10s in my 10 bolt and they are getting noisy so im going to a 9 inch or 12 bolt soon. my question is my speedo seems to be ready around106-108 at the top of 4th--i know thats not enough to carry me thru the quarter at 115--is my speedo slow or is the 4.10 just a bit much? i know ive had to back out of 2 races already because i was out of gear. btw ive never had this car to the track thats why im asking and its an m6.

well right now im still on the stock cam so i never take it over 5800-5900. i dont drag it now because of the 10 bolt but it will see some track time once i get a good rear--i just dont want to spend 2 g's on a rear and have to swap the gears out because i cant make it thru the quarter.
btw what is the stock rev limiter?? i set mine to 6100 with the hypertech--too high or too low?

I would put it back to 6200 unless you have the mods to support spinning higher.

is 6200 the stock rev limiter? i think i had heard 6190 1 time. i forgot what it was when i did the hypertech for my gear swap and i put it at 6100. right now my light is at 5800 and i think its a tad low even. will it make a difference when i put on my lt's and cat back? right now its just a lid, gears, cutout.

You can get taller tires too. I have all stock internals and am going through the traps at like 6000 at like 107. Next year I am going to get some 28" slicks, and that should take care of it.

I read this in PHR, They dynoed a crate LS1 and the valves floated pretty bad at 5,800 rpm. They then put in the blue LS6 vavlesprings and the engine could wind up to 6,600 before the numbers fell again. The engine peaked at 6,400 rpm with 454 hp while carrying over 450 hp from 6,000 rpm to 6,500 rpm. Torque was still 372 at 6,400 rpm. Just from swapping springs the engine made 30 hp and 30 lb.ft at 5,900 rpm due to stock springs floating. So what I'm thinking is to get my 4.10's, put in probably 918's with titanium retainers and bump the rev limiter to 6,500 and the stock cam should still pull according to this article and be much better off going through the traps at 115 plus.
