p to v clearance
do i need to check it if i have relifed pistons? i have a g5x2 type (comp) cam, stock length pushrods, about .035 off the heads and new pistons with reliefs. stock gaskets too. should i be able to just put it all together, or should i checked the clearances. you would think with the pistons it should be ok, right?

You should ALWAYS check it. ALWAYS. Did you degree the cam when you put it in? If you're off a few degrees, retarded or advanced, then you'll be putting the exhaust or intake valves respectively a little closer to the piston.
I just put a new cam in my car and installed it straight up and it was off 4 degrees retarded. Fairly new timing chain and gear...Cloyes hex-adjust. Check..check..check...
If you have an even older timing set you can be off more than that.
