04 Lightning wants to run for $500 ?
ok a Buddy i know has a 04 lightning with chip, intake, and exhaust. No pulley. He doesn't know much about cars but he still seems to be very confident that he can beat me. He's even willing to put $500 on it. What do you guys think? Is there anything i should check for on his truck? Best i've ran is a 12.7 @ 110 with the mods in my sig with 25 psi in my Nitto's.

sounds like it will be close if the lightning hooks up. those trucks respond to mods just like the 03/04 cobras. those lightnings are mid-hi 13's stock. and with those mods he should be in the 12's with traction. i know you said he has no pulley, but the chip helps alot too. i have seen a chipped, pullied, exhaust lightning with slicks run 12.20's. run him and let us know what happens.

It will be a good race....for you... as you will have 500 bucks when it is all done. LOL. But you would definatly have no issue. He is prolly drivin a 13.5 sec truck. Your choice and if he is a ud then there is no reason to go for money cause that is gauranteed to end your freindship. I hope you dont need money that bad. GL man

no doubt the lightning is very quick with the mods and maybe the guy could run a 12.7 in that truck, but advantage over 80mph goes to the f body all the way. his truck wont be able to handle your top end power plus he isnt aerodynamic at all, which slows him down
but with 500 bucks on it, you had better set the rules on his mods, no nitrous, etc etc so that you dont get screwed if he decides to pull a fast one

Draw up a contract. Oh wait, street racing is illegal so you can't have a legal contract unless you go to the track. In that case, get it on video and bring the video and contract to small claims court if he doesn't pay you. J/K I doubt you're that serious about this race.
The reason I brought it up is because some guy was bugging my friend to race and my friend told him that they'd do it for money only if they did it at a track under contract. Needless to say my friend never heard another word about it.

i raced a 02 lightning with a chip, pulley(2lb)and exhaust. we went froma dig to 80 and i he stayed at my rear tire till 60 then i pulled about a car. thats when i only had my lid and cat-back, i say you have a good shot of winning.

With a chip and intake and exhaust, he's running mid 12s and low 12s with slicks. Don't be so sure, I am with everyone else, I would just run for the fun of it.

ive got a 99 SS and 04 Lightning both my personal everyday vehicles. i bought my lightning in november and its still 100% stock down to the paper air filter. my camaro when i had your mods would probably only be ahead by less than a fender till about 40mph then after that its the camaros race. now this guy has exghaust does that mean cat back or headers, my understanding is lightnings dont see any real gains with cat backs because their is such low backpressure already built into the oem setup.
i still think youll win in the 1/4 for sure; as long as he's not bullshiting on the mods i think its worth taking his $500
dont race him from a role, this truck makes 450ft/lbs stock if he's smart when he races from a role he should put the trans in tow/haul mode which drops it a gear then watch out.
if he's betting $500 as incentive to race id do it.
the truck weight is 4700lbs approx without driver so off the line is where you can take him but only breifly then he'll hold on till aerodynamics take over and start holding him back. beleive it or not but they do hoockup pretty good for a truck and the new version of the F1s are alot better than the old ones that came on our cars.
