Default need suggestions. changing a block.

My motor (of a 98 TA 39,000 mi) got hydrolocked with probably 1 or 2 bent rods and the block is cracked so I'm going to get a used block and used rods as well. I'm going to transfer whatever I can from the cracked block. The car is basically stock except for a lid and a catback.

does it have to be machined and balanced before I put in?

WHAT IS NECESSARY TO DO THE SWAP SAFELY?
accesories, recommendations, precautions, etc.

also a 03 z06 cam is going to be installed during this process, what else does it have to be changed when installing this cam?

I really apreciate the help guys! Thanks !!!!

Make sure the decks are straight on the block, get the rotating assembly ballanced, cylinder hone, line hone, new rings, and new cam bearing would be a good idea too. On the cam, get some ls6 springs and make sure you didn't bend your push rods.

thanks, I apreciate the help man!
also,
what kind of ARP bolts are recommended to use?

what are the common things that happen when a motor gets hydrolocked?

I'm not very familiar with the LS1 internals so I'm sorry if this are dumb questions!!
