I would get the speaker rebuilt. It will be cheaper and easier then to find a replacement with the way that GM screwed up the monsoon system.
It won't be easy to find a person who rebuilds speakers as it is a lost art, but if you ask around I am sure you will find.

I blew my front two speakers and had to upgrade to Alpines, sounds good but was alittle bit of tedious work to make it function right. Refer to the sticky at the top of the page under frequently asked questions.

You can get replacement Monsoon speakers from link below. I just bought one for the rear panel next to the seat, 4" round and it was $ 17.50.

***NON SPONSOR***

Make sure you put your VIN in when asked as they verify every part versus the VIN.

Just ask Paul (phone or email) for what you need and he will send you link to part.

Great for ALL GM parts.

I would say either puchase an exact replacement. If you want to upgrade, then, depending on which speaker popped there are a couple of options. The main key is to keeping the ohm load the same to the amp.

THe monsoons are nice, but aftermarket is better and if sound is important to you, I suggest getting somthing with a rubber surround, they'll last a LOT longer and sound a LOT better.

$65 sounds about right for a 6.5" midbass speaker. I went to a local audio store and they quoted the same sized JL for $90 each. Here are some speakers that should work with that application and they are free-air which you will need unless you find a way to enclose part of the inside of the panel. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

they will bolt in. But you will need to cut the clip from the factory harness to attach the wire to the speaker.

The only thing you'll have to do is cut off the connector at the end of the wires and plug the wires into the speaker. I'm not sure which wire is + or - on the drivers side but on the passenger side the green wire is +. I can't remember if the drivers side is the same color or not. Just try it out and see what works. It won't hurt anything if they're backwards for a brief second.

I was wondering what the OHM's are on the 6 1/2 midbass speaker. I was thinking about replacing the factory ones since they blew. Anyone have a suggestion on what to replace the factory ones with and what OHMS they should be? Thanks

factory subs are 2ohm. Camaro have single voice coils - 2ohm, Trans Am has dual voice coils - 4ohm + 4ohm.
You can pull the factory sub out, and get the part number off of it.
Then go to gmpartsdirect.com and put the number in their search engine. I checked on the trans am sub yesterday and it was like $41 shipped to me.

so the factory subs are the speakers directly behind the driver and passengers seat? They are 2 OHM's? I just want to make sure before I order thanks.

On some earlier camaros they were in the rear hatch (my friend's 93 has 'em back there). Most later cars they're in the sail panels (between the rear seat and front seat).
