First I took some scrap artificial wood from my Dad's deck project, and I counter-sunk a couple bolts into the holes that already exist there.

I put sticky foam to prevent rattles beneath the piece shown here, and that bottom right bolt goes in where the spare tire bolts into the car. The board is 100% solid and rattle free.

Finished product. I'll update it when my system is done. Right now I am trying to get my HU secure (see other post.. GRR)
Let me know what you think!

What are you going to do when you have a flat? You have no spare.

i mounted one there behind that support bar, so i could still keep my spare. But it was a little smaller it was a polk carbon 500.1 ,kinda square.

Eh, I dont want/need a spare. If I go on a trip, i'll just toss it in the back. I got AAA advantage plus :) The PG Amp made my friends two Solo Baric L7 10's seem like the car had its own weather system in the back; soo much air moving it was sick.

I wouldn't trust one of those tiny spares to do any good anyways. I would just call someone unless I was going out of town, then I would take it. Nice location. I see you live in CT. Your amp should do fine there. If I were to mount my amp there here in TX, it would overheat and shut off. You shouldn't have any problems though.

I was thinking about mounting my amp back there as well, however I was concerned with it getting hot, but the more I thought about it I began to think its probably not much hotter back there than any other place in the rear of the car. Is this something I should be concerned with? Houston gets awfully hot... I'd hate to damage my amp.

Well I guess I have grown up and realized it is always good to have a spare.
That amp is either huge, or it is the way you took the photo.

Well I guess I have grown up and realized it is always good to have a spare. I still have my spare, but there's no way I could get to it if I needed to. lol My box is WAY too freakin heavy. I'd have to unmount the subs and still have a friend help me.lol But then again, I live on an island...... how far could I possibly be away from someone.... :)

I'm glad my box is lightweight. Only about 35lbs empty.

Yea its a big amp, 14.25" long. To solve the potential heat problem though, I am going to mount a computer case fan where the rear hatch speaker used to go as an exhaust fan since heat rises.. lol! I hope I don't sound too corny, but maybe it'll work! I'll try and get it done tomorrow.

yeah, it's okay. honestly, the biggest problem i have with that is that you can do the same thing with a an amp rack on the back wall. it's completely stealth with the flap up but you can show it off when you want to.

True.. this was free though.. I think that was the main motivation ;)

The thing is though this amp is really big, so putting it here keeps it safe and hidden. Also, hooking wires into that spot is caaaake!

it's not that big of an amp you have. and most people can make a rear amp rack without paying more than $10 for supplies; it's really not complicated.
your wiring may be simple to hook up, but i bet the controls on the opposing side of that amp are quite the bitch to get to.

Defiantly a stealthy setup. The only concerns I would have would be heat related which im sure you know is the #1 killer in electronics.

Not bad.. the 3 RCAs are there, and the crossover controls in series of 3, its pretty easy to remember what goes where, and I have the manual of course if I forget.
I forgot to mention im in a band too, and my car has the most cargo space
I gotta fit a bass drum, 3 toms, a floor tom, symbols, my bass amp and my guitar in there lol so I thought 100% cargo availability would be a good thing.
Im workin on that heat thing now

well that is reasonable to need the cargo space. hopefully it'll all work out well for you :)
