I have messed with Fiberglass resin alot... here is my question... I am assuming the autometer pod is plastic.. How well does the resin bond to straight plastic???

I've never had a problem with it. In fact, I'd say probably 90% of the stuff I do is in plastic.

I rough up the plastic a bit but have never had any problems with the resin
sticking.

I would also drill some random holes in so the resin can soak through and act like a rivit.

Not a bad idea. Definately wouldn't hurt... Unless the actual carbon started sinking into the holes

I would definintely NOT do that. The resin is pretty thick and would require a decent sized hole to actually "sink" through. Have you actually tried this, just curious?

The resin will def. go in the small holes.. It acts like water, it will find its way through. That is a real good idea. The integrity of the structure would be bullet proof. Good ideas!

AHAHAH yeah I could see it now, applying the resin and letting it sit, coming back later to notice there is a pile of resin'd carbon fiber sitting underneith the pillar pod mount...
