My car started misfiring(cylinder 7) a couple weeks ago so i changed the spark plugs and checked the wires and they were fine and it was still misfirins the some one told me it might be the coil pack so i put a new one in
and it still misfirins so what could it the guy at the shop said it might be the valves but i guess its something internal what could it be

when i had a misfire, i had an bad injector (stuck open). it also caused an 02 sensor and a CAT to fail... i was lucky that the car is still under warranty when it happend and it didnt cost me a dime.

check the pushrods. I have a friend that has an A4 and was getting missfires all day long, we even swaped out the whole coil pack rack. Eventually we pulled the valve covers and saw a rocker arm just sitting there with no pushrod under it. Turns out it was broken in half, and this was in an A4 BTW so that goes to show that you dont have to miss a shift.

number seven injector is know to go bad cause any water in the fuel system likes to pool up in the part of the fuel rail. so i would start with a compression test, then swapping injectors or checking under the valve cover. good luck
