Yesterday afternoon heat index here in Lafayette (IN) was 114* when I got home from work. Felt a good big hotter today. For the summer I get to work outside in a cornfield as a "valuable field assistant" for a professor doing research at Purdue. We put in 9.5 hours today. I think I lost 2 gallons of sweat!

Well it wasn't so bad today--as long as you stayed indoors with air conditioning and a cold beverage. It's just not right to go outside and break a sweat at 11 p.m.
