One 10" or Two 12" Subs?
I have always had two 12" subs in my SUV, however this is a smaller car -- and I don't like things to rattle.. So my question... What would sound awesome -- one 10" sub or two 12" subs??

In the Z I personally went with one really high end 10" sub and quality amps. Every person who hears my setup is very suprized how clean, loud, and much bass it has (This is the system as a whole). As for rattles, you will get those any time you make a good amount of sound pressure. Just go through the car, find the rattles, and fix them.

I have two 15"s with 3kWRMS. You'd be extremely suprised as to how little rattling I have. It all about seeking out just exactly what is vibrating and securing it or padding it better.

I have a JL 10W3V2 powered by an Alpine MRP-M350 Mono amp ... The Sub is in the Stealthbox from Subthump and it POUNDS!..
Yeah it rattles.. right above the gas tank area and I'll soon take care of it with some Dynamat or similar product..
However, I really don't think more than a single 10" is required in an F-Body, unless you're an extreme audiophile Just get a nice Sub like JL, Diamond Audio, Alpine Type X etc

Allright... I'll go with the 1 10" sub... So far all my Audio products are Alpine -- from the 9855 Head Unit to the Type R 6.5 Speakers all the way around. I will get the Sub enclosure as well as an Alpine Type R or S (not sure yet) as well as an Alpine Amp (with Data Cable my Head Unit will tell me the amount of watts and voltage the Alpine Amp is throwing out) -- can't wait -- will post pics when I get them...

good choice with the 1 10" but why get an alpine sub. There's ALOT better out there. IMHO, alpine makes great head units and reliable amps but thats it. I know it's tempting to stick with a name brand and do it all around, I did the same thing - I had alpines all around. Now I have mb quart all around still powered by the alpine amps with unfortunately an alpine type s 12" sub. The difference in quality is amazing.

are you wanting to keep your T-tops?
I had a 95 camaro z28 with the camaro box in the back holding 2 12" JL w3's. problem is it takes up your T-top area. Great bass, with no space if you will If you want to keep your t-top space I would go with a setup like the one I have. It's beautiful I will go out tomorrow morning and take a picture and post it. (yeppie this is my first post and i'm glad I get to help with it)

So whats your budget for a sub and amp? Do you want room for ttops? How much bass do you want? Dont stick to alpine, The head unit is great ... the subs and amp arent so nice. I could see it being a fasion statement, but isnt sound quality more important?

ok Like I promised
ok i took some pics of my 10" single sub setup. here is a link of the trunk with and without TTops in it.

ok now to explain what I did. the box is a Mtx steathbox with sub and amplifier. amp went out so i drilled a hole, and ran my rockford fostgate amp to it. Circuitycity is having a heck of a deal on nice subs right now, and i would check it out. I got this one for only $90.00! the box is small, but the sub sounds awesome! songs with a lot of bass will make your nose and **** tickle. If you have change in the cup holder it will dance all day. I like it a lot better than my 2 Jl 12" w3's i had in my 95. You can get wood steath boxes like this on ebay or order from a local audio store.
The sub just misses the ttops but I need to add a grill cover to protect it incase it does slide.
I myself had no idea one nice ten with a nice amp would make so much thump. it's almost as loud as my 2 12"s, but they also had a lot bigger box that took up the whole trunk.
you said you had 2 12's in your suv. One of the many awesome things about the camaro is that the trunk space actually acts like a second box, and since there is nothing between it and you, (like a mustangs backseats) you get the full effect. you will be plenty happy with 1 10" MTX.

You could to 2 10s or 2 8s.
Having the sub facing sideways isnt what gives it the "bass boost"
its all of the sounds waves bouncing off the hatchback window.
Facing the subs up towards the window, along with the port would increase this effect.

your correct blow, that having having the subs facing up toward the glass at an angle will increase the feel of the bass, but there arn't any locations in the car to have a sub do that without 1:taking up T top room, or 2:having it sit behind the back seat where it looks less than professional.

Used to make the milhouse box too. Much cleaner design IMO. But discontinued due to unpopular demand. I'm sure you could find a used one for sale on the boards.
