Default !EGR modify O2's?

When you remove your EGR and AIR provisions, does this modify your O2 readings? If it does then should it have a slight impact on your A/F ratio?

AIR is only for cat light-off. AIR shuts down before
you go into closed loop. While it's on it changes the
O2 readings but they aren't being used.

EGR is (supposed to be) chemically neutral gas. The
mixture loop still tries to control to the same point.
Any difference will be small and the trims will take care
of it. EGR is only applied at fairly low throttle, fairly
high MAP so it doesn't have any impact to power
tuning.

Thanks, I was wondering about that. However, when I took off the EGR valve I could smell a distinct aroma of gasoline from the valve. Is this normal?
