Anyone running 3 10"s?
Ive got a 12" RF p3 right now running off of a RF 500.2 (577rms). Its ok but im getting into rock and want something a little cleaner. Im looking at dumping the sub for 3 RF p2 8ohm woofers instead and making a spec sealed box for them to fire off of the hatch. They are 200rms each so they should match up perfectly.
input?

My 12's handle rock without any problems. Your boxes are probably a little too big. Rf subs also aren't all that great to begin with. If you're set on replacing them, I'd look at sticking with 12's(keep the boxes you have) but get something geared at sounding a little better than the Fosgates. Maybe check out Image Dynamics.
Before you buy anything, there's a simple way you can make your box a little smaller. Just get yourself some wooden blocks. Cut out a 4 inch length from a 2x4, so its 4x4x2, and put one in each of your enclosures. What you're effectively doing is decreasing the available space inside your box, thus making it smaller. Just keep adding blocks until it cleans the sound up(as good as it can for Fosgates ) Your low end will suffer, but if you're getting into rock and metal, it's all about bass guitar and double bass drums. Should clean those up nicely.

Im running a memphis st1000d on 3 image dynamics idq 10's and all i listen to is metal and rock. I like the 3 10 setup because u can still get alot of low end if u want it but they still have a nice kick. Ive actually competed in a few usac comps with a best of 147.5db. So that right there should tell u about what kind of sound u can expect with a good tri sub setup.i will say that i do have an *** load of hatch/trunk rattle though.

I would also suggest an amp with more power and i agree with tainted against the RF's, and if u do decide to look for a bigger amp u might also look for an amp thats 1ohm stable or lower. That will open up alot more possiblities for sub configurations. I have had everything from 1 12" to 8 10's on my amp with no probs, and its 4 yrs old!!! Memphis amps are damn nice and so are cadence. A good class d mono block amp will really change the way a system performs.

I will agree that RF HIGH'S are not exactly high end, but theres nothing bad about RF bass. And to be perfectly frank, with the right box a damn jensen 10" can sound nice in an fbody. The current box i designed for an IDmax 12" but decided to stay with what i have. Im going to design a new box to spec for the p3 (exactly half the airspace) and well see how she does.

Just a thought, but you may want to consider just a pair of 10's......running (2) MC300 memphis w/(2) M3 10's (ported enclosure) and it performs well for both SQ and SP. Had the dual 4ohm cones, but work just as well w/4ohm. .2db loss but eliminated my turn-off pop.
Hits around 143.3 - 144.0 db's.....how loud do you want to be?
The good news is that is only takes up my t-top storage area.

I used to have 3 Infinity Kappa Perfect Subs (Flamesuit on) in the hatch. My impression of it was that yes it got DAMN loud, but it all depends on what your application calls for. it did great on rock and country songs, but for rap it just didnt get low enough for me. i went and got a 12W7 in a ported box and am feedin it ~825 watts from a RF 1001bd and it gets JUST as loud as those 3 tens and goes much lower while maintaining the excellent SQ for rock songs as well. Now i know im comparing apples to oranges because that W7 can run circles around the infinity's all day long, but just sayin that a good quality 12 or even 15" sub can handle rock all day long as long as the box is built right, its powered sufficiently, and ur settings are suited for ur application. good luck! o, heres a pic of the 12W7
