As asked in the title, what does that hose setup do exactly?
The reason I ask is the other day I cleaned my air filter and noticed the hose was disconnected from the air box (the snap ring loosened up and the hose slipped off). Was riding around with it like that for approx a month or so since I last messed with the lid. Did anything get messed up?

It let's the AIR system pump have access to filtered air. Probably not a big issue for that system but you've been sucking in non-filtered air into your throttle body, which is not good.

yeah get a plug on that sucka if your gonna get rid of it, a no brainer lol, stupid dallas smog test,...or is it the place i go to....
