02 Ta vs. 05 Goat??
My friend just purchased an stock 05 gto with an a4, and he asked me if i wanted to race it, so i agreed i would. But i just wanted to get some imput from other ppl about this, I know the 6 liter goats move out pretty good. but could my 02 ta w/ an a4 keep up(mods down below), ppl tell me that they weigh too much and ill prob beat it, but im skeptical. any imput would be appreciated......thanx

IIRC C&D tested an 05 GTO at 13.3 w/ the manual, so i could imagine the a4 wouldn't be too much behind. It could be a driver's or traction race. Based on my results w/ nitto drag radials, I hope they work good for u.

I dunno, whats the 05 TA running?
Seriously though, IRS on the Goat gives the TA an advantage from a dig all else being equal. The wieght is an advantage to the TA too, but from a roll weight does not mean as much, and the Goat has the power. Tough to say. Gearing might be the big isssue on two near stock cars.

It'll be a good race. I ran a 6 liter gto this weekend and they are pretty strong. I immediately started pulling on him untill I get in 5th and the distance stays the same. They are cool cars!

the t/a is a ws6 it has 3.23's all GTOs have 3.47 gears (pretty sure thats the exact number) not a big difference i think the ws6 would win easily as long as he heated the DRs up good he should pull out in front and stay there

I went to the track w/ an '05 this weekend and the best he could do was a 13.8 w/ a 2.2 60ft. His is also a M6 and he has an intake system and a cat back.
IMO 05 GTOs and 01+ f-bodies are equal stock for stock. w/ any mods you should win.

i wasnt that impressed with the GTO's performance wise. with the 6.0 liter and 400 HP i was hoping it would be up there with the Z06. I saw one with longtubes, cat back, and tune put down a whopping 370 to the wheels. The guy was pretty pissed about that.
Also, if the torque management kicks in then you'll have him by a mile.

My best all night was a 13.5 w/ a slightly higher trap. Conditions were less than optimal; I think both of us can do better times (actually I know).
