How accurate are g-tec's
I was just curious about my 1/4 mile times after my new mods, so i went out on this open road w/ a couple of buddies... and one of them happened to have a g-tec meter on them...so i figured id try it out and see what it says. after i heated up the tires a little then i reset the gtec, held the rpm's at 1,100ish let of the brake and slammed on the gas, after a second of wheel spin i hooked and i took off, once i passed the quarter mile the gtec flashed 14.0 flat at a trap speed of 110... now my question is how accurate are these things...my friends say there only off by a tenth of a second but im skeptical...any imput would be great...thanks

it depends. you have to be on a perfectly flat road for it to be close. they should be used similar to a dyno...get a baseline...do a few mods...go back to the same stretch of road and be as consistant as possible to see how much you've improved.

I have a Tazzo, and have also found that the ET is pretty much spot on, the trap is not. I'm pretty sure the trap isn't right because it is telling you what your speed actually is at the end of the quarter, not taking an average over a set distance like is done at the track.
I really like mine because you can do 60' only, which can really help you figure out what works and what doesn't with your launching technique.

They are really close on E.T.'s. I ran a friends car at the track last week with his hooked up and it was dead on. He has the three hundred dollar G-tech though.
He mentioned selling it for 150.00 the other day if anyones interested.

i ran a 5.2 0-60 and 13.3 @ 109.5 in the o5 gto without revving the motor from the launch, i think the 13.3 is on but i don't know about the 109.5 though, but it was in the morning.

The first g-techs are good btu the second ones are better. They tie into the ECU so that it knows the vechiles speed and can also caluclate a better ET and MPH. So long as your speedo is calibrated. GL
