Moving Maybe?
My family might be moving out to Texas within a few years. The rents have recently been eyeballing area's around Dallas and area's around Houston. Now if we do move it wont be in the city but outside. My pops wants a place where he can walk out his back door and fish and hunt practically.
My question is I want first hand knowledge and opinions on both city's and area's around them. How is the weather? Is the summer hotter than hell like ours is in Palm Springs and the winters are nice and cool? How is the outdoors life? Car meets and such? Im currently in Community College so something along that line for school as well.
Any response is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Outdoor life in Houston is OK, but there are plenty of camping/hunting/fishing sites within a couple hours. One thing you learn quickly about Texas is driving for less than two hours is considered a quick trip.
There are plenty of car meets in Houston. Don't know about Dallas.
In Houston, we have Houston Community College, San Jacinto Junior College, Alvin Junior College, and a few others I'm probably forgetting. You can also transfer into the University of Houston or Houston Baptist University, or make the drive to Sam Houston State or move to any of the other state colleges (University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, Baylor, Texas Tech, etc.)

Theres a few car meets in dallas, not as organized as houston. But if your parents decide on Dallas look into Fort worth, and if dallas, stay north of hwy 30

We have not had anything major in the since of a hurricane/tropical storm in 4-5 years I believe. Allison was the last one we had, and it was manily rain and lots of it.
Humidity yes We have it. Nothing like walking outside and tasting the air on your tongue When it comes to humidity I dont know of a better place to go to than Houston. Nothing like 98º with 100% Humidity!

Dallas is less humid because they are not by the water. In houston we get the sea breeze from Galveston and it gets pretty sticky here. Nothing like taking a shower and then walking outside at like 8:30pm to get somethig out of the car and you start sweating just going from your house to the car and back inside.

Hey Elliott!
Your gunna get more of a change of seasons and less humidity in Dallas. The only down side is a little less meets in the DFW area in comparison to H-Town. But there are plenty of nice drag strips all over the DFW area and if you know where to look you can find all the good meets. Also there are a lot of nice lakes all over Texas for good fishing, boating, hunting, etc.
