Not to steal your thread but the info might be beneficial..
I am looking at getting a set of the 5.3 heads this Friday. Should I get the Stage III from PP for less money or get the PRC Stage 2.5 from TSP? They "should" be the same but one is less $$ correct? Who else has the 5.3L heads?

I've read so freakin much about heads in the last 8 months it's made my head spin.
Today, I ordered TEA stage 1.5 5.3 heads.
I don't think you could get a better "tried and true" set for the $$.
Ok, PP is like $300 cheaper. But, when all said and done (heads, cam, pushrods, gaskets, bolts, etc.) $300 isn't a lot of money.
They definitely have the bargain set out there. I'm just not sold on the complete history. On the other hand, I've never read ANYTHING about TEA heads not making the power they should.
Or, if you've got the $$, AFR seems even more tried and true.

I here about PP, TEA, AFR, ETC.ETC. Check with Lingenfelter Performance Engineering for their Heads/Cam packages, they have been doing this stuff for over 25 years with more than proven results...and price is every bit as good as any other place.

As far as head/cam packages - buy them together! Call a site sponsor here and tell them your goals, and ask them what they can do for you. You'll be pleased with the answers!

Im not sure, could be reading into the post a bit too much but I think he might have meant a heads a cam package that would get 380rwhp, I could be 100% wrong though. If he meant he had 380rwhp with his current mods then Im with you, not even close to those numbers with those mods. In addition, like everyone else has said you (original poster) need to make a list of your goals and what types of power you want to make. There are so many combos out there its absurd. There is no best...only the best for your given goals. I mean we could give you the BEST package that would net you the most HP, which could be a huge cam and some AFR's, but that might not be what your looking for. The more info the more we can help!

wow...ok im glad someone told me im nowhere near 380hp...this is my first ls1 and i havent had it dynoed yet. plus, i definatley dont want to be the full-of-**** guy...i hate that. i am looking for the most horsepower gain and i have decided on the afr 205's and am trying to find the cam that will give me the most power. sometime in the future, i would like to put a blower on it aswell but thats way off in the future. does anybody have any idea of "around" how much horsepower im running? thanks!!

There was a great thread on head choices recently, specifically the AFR 205's and whether they're "better" because of flow velocity than the Patriot LS6 stage 2 or and some other 225cc heads, except the AFR 225's (of course...). It was good food for thought for picking a set of heads, and utlimately which cam would compliment which heads. For example, you can make nearly as much HP and maybe more low-end torque mating the 205's with a medium-sized cam, 224/228 .560ish. vs a big cam & 225s. So how do you drive, 2500-4500 rpm, beatin' rice burners from light to light, or flat out in Montana? You might not want the Biggest and Baddest where the curve is 4000-6800rpm, if you've got more torque down low or just a lower power curve with a medium-sized set up.

im drivin prolly more around the 3000-4500 range. dont really drive too flat our but i just drove about 240 miles today and the car pulls pretty nice untill 5th and sixth. maybe cause of the 4.10s but i would like to have the power band like 2500-6700. how bout the 224/224. how does that compare with some of the bigger ones? im hoping and guessing i will get around 400 with just the cam and 430-440 with the heads added. does this sound about right. also, would it be better to just buy a blower instead of the heads and cam set-up.
